What Constitutes An Emergency?

Emergencies happen suddenly and often in the middle of the night. When a pet emergency occurs it is frightening, due to the unexpectedness of them. We understand that emergencies can cause anxiety and stress, which is why we want to help. There are several signs your pet may exhibit when your pet is in critical condition. Some signs you may notice that signify an emergency are:

  • Animal is bleeding
  • Bites, scratches, and open wounds
  • Vomit or diarrhea
  • Trying to “go” or vomit and can't
  • Uneasily breathing, gasping, or coughing
  • Trauma and collapse
  • Seizures
  • Poisoning (something as innocent as chocolate can make pets very ill)

If you notice any of these signs or witnessed your pet eating or licking something potentially toxic do not hesitate to call our clinic. The faster you react to an emergency the greater the chance we of being able to help your pet feel better.

Are These Symptoms Or Emergencies?

A dog that's gotten into someone's trash can come home and exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, trouble breathing, or worse collapse. An animal that fought with another creature needs to see the vet immediately. Many other fatal conditions can cause symptoms in your pet and if not treated immediately can have poor results. Some invisible conditions are twisted organs, strokes, heart attacks, and others; when these occur in a pet you may not be able to see the internal issues, but you will exhibit your pet showing signs of extreme discomfort. If you notice your pet struggling, we recommend you visit our clinic.
