What To Expect From Puppy & Kitten Exams

Puppy & Kitten Exams With Our Lewistown Vet

Puppy and Kitten Exams

At Pleasant View Veterinary Clinic, LLC, our Lewistown vet offers the puppy and kitten care services your new pet needs to lead a healthy and happy life. This includes specialized puppy and kitten exams, which we recommend scheduling as soon as possible once you bring home your new pet. Even if your puppy or kitten was vetted before you adopted him or her, it's always a good idea to have a secondary exam done once your pet is brought home.

What to Expect From Your Pet's First Exam

Not sure what to expect at your pet's first exam with us? We'll begin by getting to know you and your pet; our veterinary team will ask some basic questions about your pet, such as its age, activity at home, nutrition, and the like. This is a great opportunity to bring up any questions or concerns you may have about your pet's health. We'll then go on to check your pet's weight, temperature, and other basics to get a general baseline of your pet's wellness. Once our veterinarian comes into the room, we'll conduct a more thorough assessment of your pet's health. This will include a comprehensive examination of your pet's eyes, ears, teeth, heart rate, breathing, and other vital signs and functions.

As part of your pet's appointment, we can also administer any vaccinations that your puppy or kitten may need to stay up-to-date, such as:

  • Rabies
  • Feline or canine distemper
  • Panleukopenia
  • Parainfluenza
  • Feline leukemia
  • And many more

If you have a copy of your pet's current vaccination schedule, please bring it to your appointment, as this will help us better determine what your pet needs.

Schedule an Appointment With Our Lewistown Animal Hospital

Preparing for your pet's exam with our Lewistown animal hospital is easy. Simply give us a call at either of our area offices to book your pet's appointment. Then, make sure you have a safe way of securing your pet during transport (leashes are ideal for larger dogs, while carriers are great for smaller dogs and cats).
