Dr. Michaela Fry assumes the ownership responsibilities and full-time veterinarian position at Pleasant View/Juniata Veterinary Clinics. Dr. Fry was born and raised in East Waterford and received her BS in Veterinary Medical Technology at Wilson College in 2004. While at Wilson College she also minored in Biology, Chemistry, and History. In 2008 she graduated from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM and a concentration in food animal medicine and a large interest in small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Fry joined our team in 2008 and purchased the practice from Dr. Braunstein in March of 2015 and has continued to build on the foundation that he built ever since.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Fry is a 4H leader for the Kiddin Around Sheep and Goat Club and a member of the Penn State Ag Extension board. She resides in Juniata County with her husband, Doug; and a small farm consisting of sheep, goats, dogs, cats, Jersey cows, a rabbit, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and a horse. Some of her interests include breeding and caring for her rare breeds of chickens, Romeldale and Suffolk sheep, sharing her passion for animals through education, and reading historical books and memoirs.
Dr. Melissa Ehrisman has been an associate veterinarian at our practice since July of 2002. Prior to that she attended Juniata College where she received her BS in Biology in 1998. From there she went on to graduate from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, earning her VMD.
Dr. Ehrisman resides in East Salem, Pennsylvania with her husband Stan, daughter Hannah and son Carter, and several cats and dogs. She enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Russ LaPierre is one of our associate veterinarians, with certification in acupuncture and a special interest in dentistry and equine medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Delaware Valley College, his master’s in animal science from the University of Delaware, and his Veterinary Medical Doctorate (VMD) from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Russell LaPierre joined us in May of 2015 and added equine services. He practices small animal, equine, and food animal medicine as well as some exotics, pocket pets, birds, and reptiles. When he’s not caring for pets at Pleasant View Veterinary Clinic, he loves to be outdoors, hiking, biking, horse trail riding, gardening, and paddling.
Dr. Sol Allen Sath is the newest member of our team; he's been an associate veterinarian with us since June 2016. Prior to joining our team, he attended Shippensburg University, graduating with his BS in 2010. In 2012 he received his Masters in Laboratory Animal Science from Drexel University. He attended Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph, graduating in 2016 with his DVM.
Born and raised in Juniata Country, Dr. Sath's hobbies outside of the practice include running and watching pro-wrestling.
Nicole is a veterinary technician with our team since 2008. She loves seeing owners come with their new pets. Her own pets include Gracie and Payton, 2 Coonhound mixes; Sid, Sophia, Diego, and Pickle, domestic cats; a mix of Red Bourbon and Royal Palm turkeys; Ricky Bobby, a rabbit; many Cochin and Brahma chickens; and Annie, Faline, Gilbert, Leo, Nibby, and Scarlette, pygmy goats. When she isn’t working, she loves riding horses, watching dirt track racing, and listening to music.
Jessica has been with our team since 2008 as a receptionist. She loves getting to know our clients and meeting new people. At home, she has two dogs; Charlie (border collie/mix), Toby (mastiff), seven cats; Dia, Puds, Murray, Mildred, Magenta, Felix & Edgar. When she's not at the clinic, she spends her crafting, listening to music, and spending time with family.
Aria, who loves working with the animals and learning new things, has been a veterinary assistant for a year and a half and a Kennel Assistant for more than four years, totaling more than five years’ experience with our practice. She grew up loving to do “boy” things like fishing and hunting, but as she grew up she added some “girly” things like shopping to her list of hobbies. She has a pet of her own: Saber, a domestic short haired cat.
Sam is a Licensed Veterinary Technician and our Head Technician at Pleasant View and Juniata Veterinary Clinics. She is a graduate of the Vet Tech Institute and has been a critical member of our team for more than 4 years. Her favorite aspects of veterinary care are helping with behavior cases and assisting in surgery. Her love for animals follows her home where she has 2 pygmy goats, a rabbit, 2 dogs, 18 cats, a mouse, 3 Guinea pigs, and fish. When she isn’t working or caring for her animals, she enjoys reading and hiking.
Ally is a veterinary technician at our hospital. She loves the experience of forming relationships with a team and the ability to make a difference in the lives of animals and pet owners. When she isn’t working, Ally enjoys spending time with her son. Her own pets include domestic cats named Li’l Wayne, Laila, and Reginald; Bishi, a mixed breed rabbit; Rudy, a rex mix rabbit; Smudge, a Pug; Danny, a Golden Retriever; Mr. Chicken and Mrs. Chicken, two Blue Cochens; Arthur and Albert, two goats; Gladice, Geneveve, Cornelius, and Fluffernutter, Lion Head Mixed Rabbits; and Mr. Finch, a Brahma Banty.
Tara, our Practice Manager, has been a part of our team since 2011. She has an Associate of Arts degree in Advertising Art and a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design. She loves working with the animals at the practice, as well as helping people. She finds it very rewarding to help animals in need and she makes it her personal goal to strive for client satisfaction! Tara and her husband Steve have their own pets including Jackson, a flat coat Retriever mix; Kody, a Beagle mix; and Ellie, a domestic short hair. They are all black and white. When she isn’t working, Tara loves going camping and kayaking, as well as traveling. She also teaches Zumba Fitness Classes. She’s a work-a-holic and always loves to have something to do.
Jess works as our Office Manager. She joined the team in May of 2014. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Lock Haven University. One of her favorite aspects of the job is when clients leave happy and satisfied. At home, she has a rescue-dog named Tucker and over 20 chickens. When she's not caring for her animals, she loves doing anything outdoors; kayaking, fishing, hunting, and camping. She's also a huge PSU fan and enjoys attending as many country music concerts as she can.
Lacey is joined our team as a certified veterinary technician in September of 2014, pursuing her desire to improve animals’ lives. She earned her Associate of Applied Sciences degree from Penn State, Bel-Rea Institute. Although she’s had many interesting experiences in her field, two of the most memorable involved treating celebrity dogs, including one of Cesar Milan’s dogs and a dog from the movie “Signs.” Lacey shares her home with her husband, son, and a cat named Lucy. In addition to caring for animals, she loves crafts, shopping, and being outdoors.
Tara has been a veterinary technician with us since October 2014. She earned her Associate Degree in Veterinary Technician at VTI. Tara is a true animal lover; at home she has two dogs, Mack the pug and Princess the chihuahua, two horses, Secret and Snoopy, and four chickens. Tara's favorite part about working at our veterinary clinic she says is, "Being able to help not only the animals but their Owners. I also enjoy giving the animals a voice and to help people understand their needs." Tara loves riding and showing horses. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tara has traveled to France to see Paris and Normandy; she's also been do Dublin, Ireland.
Cheyenne shares her home with a German Shepherd mix named Macie and two Thoroughbred horses named Steel and Citi. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses and camping. Although she loves caring for small mammals here at the clinic, horses are her favorite animals.
Makenzie joined the team in 2014 as a veterinary assistant. She's currently a sophomore at Delaware Valley University where she's also a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. Seeing the ill-patients get better is her favorite aspect of working at the clinic and she loves learning new things from the doctors. Makenzie has four fur babies at home: two dogs named Midge and Chester and two cats named Dottie and Flapjack. When she’s not at the clinic, she spends her free time with family and friends, traveling, hunting, and playing sports. She's very active in 4H and she also volunteers at the Quakertown SPCA. Two of her notable accomplishments include becoming a member of the National Honor Society and winning the Grand Champion Market Goat award five times.
Blake is one of the kennel assistants at Pleasant View Veterinary Clinic, and she loves bettering the lives of animals and people. She also enjoys seeing how she and the other members of the team can make a positive impact on the lives of animals and their owners, and being able to learn from her co-workers. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, catching up on current world news, and writing.
Makayla has been a kennel assistant at Pleasant View Veterinary Clinic since September 2015. She also serves as an FFA (Future Farmers of America) officer, a position she’s held for two years. As one of our kennel assistants, she loves learning from veterinarians, interacting with animals, and helping to restrain animals for various procedures. At home, she cares for her own pets, which include rabbits, chickens, a cat named Waffles, a heifer named Scarlett, and a steer named Mack. She also works with her cattle and rides her horse in her spare time.
Amanda has been a member of the team since April as a kennel assistant. She's currently a junior at Mifflin County High School where she is the secretary of Health Occupations Students of America; and has plans to attend college for nursing after graduation. At home, she has a beagle named Zipper, a cat named Princess, and she just added a Shih Tzu puppy named Ellie. Her favorite part of working at the clinic is seeing the different animals that come in and how their illnesses are treated and watching them improve. When she's not working or in school, she enjoys playing softball, running, and hanging out with her friends.
Ambee works as one of our certified veterinary technicians and has been part of the team since October 2015, with a special interest in cytology and surgery. She earned her Associate in Veterinary Technology degree in 2005 from Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh. She chose to be a CVT because she enjoys working with animals and educating her clients. Ambee and her husband, Daryl, have a son named Brice as well as several pets, including Gypsy (a turtle); Dusty (a horse); Wyatt and Peaches (dogs); Jade, Macatum, and Itty Bitty (cats), six chickens, and an assortment of fish. In her free time, she loves to go hiking, fishing, camping, and horseback riding.
Samantha has been a member of our receptionist team since April of 2016.
Born and raised in Juniata County, she enjoys all things outdoors -
hunting, fishing and gardening. She also enjoys spending time with family
and her dog, Chloe. Another one of Samantha's favorite things is going on
mission trips; she's been to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Alaska, with her
favorites being Mexico and Costa Rica.
Hannah has been a receptionist with us since October of 2016. Prior to that
she attended the University of Pittsburgh and Harrisburg Area Community
College. Born and raised in Lewistown, she's recently married to her
husband, Joe; and they have two miniature dachshunds named Connor and
Reggie and a bichon named Ruthie. She enjoys working at the clinic for a
variety of reasons; one being that she's a part of a team that truly cares
about every patient and works endlessly to help them. She also loves being
able to bring her furbabies to work with her, playing with the animals that
come in, and learning something new every day. Outside of the clinic she
enjoys spending quality time with her family, reading, and being outdoors.
She also has a secondary job as a server and bartender.
